The Active Retirement Group got underway in January 2005 and decided on the name 'Young at Heart'. The group meets fortnightly on Wednesday afternoons and has a lively programme of trips, speakers and activities.

The criteria for membership is; the person should be at or nearing retirement, be from Kates Hill, Sledmoere, Buffery or surrounding areas or have some connection to those areas (eg grew up there, have friends in the area).

Membership costs £1 annually and £1 per meeting. Young at Heart encourages new members and makes all new members extremely welcome. Members all participate in the running of the group, and a terrific team spirit and feeling of being amongst genuinely caring friends has emerged. The group has a good mix of men and women as members.
