Do you enjoy helping, supporting or advising people? Are you over the age of 21? If yes, then becoming a professional counsellor could be the ideal career path for you. We’re starting a Level 2 Counselling course on September 13th from 5pm to 7pm. As well as gaining volunteer experience, new skills including effective listening and a recognised qualification you’ll have the option to progress onto Level 3 which allows you to practise as a paid professional counsellor – For more info please contact Maureen Mansell on 01384 818995

Family fun craft day in Sledmere

On Wednesday 31st August (10:30 to 12:30) we will be running a “Hungry Caterpillar” craft morning for parents with children aged 4 – 8 years at Sledmere Community Centre. During August we will be hosting FREE taster sessions at Sledmere Community Centre. Activities on offer include Facepainting, Beauty, Nail Art, Computers, Zumba, Get cooking, plus much more.

While you take part in an activity, leave you little angels with our qualified Creche staff. This service is FREE while you are on site.

Come to our Coffee Morning every Thursday 9.00am – 12.00 to find out whats on offer and register your interest or give the Outreach team a call on 01384 818990.

local Esol learners on target again in 2011

Resident’s from across Dudley have been achieving outstanding results in their use of English Language at St. Thomas’s Community Network through a course known as Esol (English for speakers of other languages).

Esol tutor Jason said…

“This year has been another successful year so far for ESOL. In June 2010 all learners achieved their individual and class targets for each module, with 28 out of 32 learners achieving accreditation for the level of learning they were enrolled on.”

People from across Dudley’s diverse and multicultural community can make positive contributions to the community in so many ways, often, the only thing that prevents them is that they are unable to find a place to access high quality English language provision so that they can acquire the language skills to enable them to participate fully in English life.

Improved language skills give all people new to Dudley the opportunity to achieve their full potential as well as helping to gain British Citizenship.

Zumba classes a hit

Come and join a Zumba Class at St,Thomas’s Community Network. We have a brilliant Zumba tutor Aaron who delivers a powerful and exhilarating Zumba dance classes run every Monday 6 -7pm at St. Thomas’s Community Network and every Wednesday night at Sledmere Community Centre. The session price is just £2.50.

Welcome to our new website.

We understand that the previous site was a little static and didn’t really shine a light on what it is that takes place here at St. Thomas’s Community Network (STCN).

Well all that is about to change as new outreach worker Michael Dennis joined the team with some big idea’s on how we can make ourselves to the people we exist to serve. Specifically we are talking about the resident’s of St. Thomas’ Ward in Dudley. If that’s you then may we recommend you bookmark this site today or even better would be to make this site your homepage.
