Foundation Learning is a programme designed to help young people aged 16-18 into jobs, work based learning and college. The programme is tailored to the individual young persons needs, and has three main elements to it.
- Element 1: Personal & Social Development
- Element 2: Vocational Skills
- Element 3: Functional Skills
The Foundation programme at St.Thomas’s Community Network is designed within a friendly, welcoming atmosphere to give young people the opportunity to grow and develop their skills and take control of their lives.
“many of the young people who come to us have other problems such as drug or alcohol abuse, or they may be disadvantaged by other circumstances such as homelessness, health problems or family issues. Consequently we work closely with their personal advisors and professional counsellors, drug rehabilitation organisations, family support units and youth services to help them address their problems” Trevor Campbell (14-19 Co-ordinator)
